- March 26 & 27 – Spring Cultural Arts Classes. Location: Women’s Building, Jay County Fairgrounds. Four hands-on classes for ages 12 and up and one children’s class for ages 6 and up. All classes are 1 ½ days long. Pre-registration requested before March 17. Class fee for adults $80 ($55 for NCGLNAC members) and $12 for children’s class. - March 26 – NCGLNAC Lecture. Location: Women’s Building, Jay County Fairgrounds. 8 p.m. Learn more about Great Lakes Native Americans. Robin McBride Scott will talk about “Canebrakes: An Indispensable Resource: Native Peoples Use of River Cane in Indiana.” Free and open to the public.
- April 16 – NCGLNAC Academic Conference – “Eastern Woodlands Major Battles.” Location: John Jay Center for Learning. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Five top educators and tribal leaders will make presentations on significant historical battles between the Eastern Woodlands peoples and the French, English and American governments, including those in this area. Of interest to educators, teachers, students, local history buffs and life-long students. Registration before April 9 of $30, $20 for students and includes catered lunch. - May 14 – NCGLNAC One-Day Cultural Arts Class. Location: Jay County Public Library, Portland. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Beading class taught by Katrina Mitten, Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, an award-winning beading artist. This event made possible in part by Arts Place, Inc., the Indiana Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
- June 11 & 12 – Pow Wow – 8th Annual Gathering of Great Lakes Nations. Location: Tri-State Antique Gas Engine Grounds, Portland. 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Dancing 1 to 4:30 and 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Enjoy Native American drums, singers, dancers, vendors, foods, artisan demonstrations, children’s activities, storytelling, pre-1840 re-enactment camp and much more. Native American flute concerts. - July 31 – August 4 – Summer NCGLNAC Cultural Arts Classes. Location: Women’s Building, Jay County Fairgrounds. Eleven hands-on, 2 ½ day classes planned for ages 12 and up, including sweet grass baskets, beading, dug out canoe making, black ash baskets, center seam moccasins, and much more. Pre-registration requested before July 22. Class fee: $95 ($75 for NCGLNAC members). Contact Kay Neumayr at kay.neumayr@ncglnac.com or 765-426-3022. - July 31 – August 4 – Summer NCGLNAC Children’s Cultural Arts Classes. Location: Women’s Building, Jay County Fairgrounds. Children ages 6 and up will learn different aspects of Great Lakes Native Americans with different subjects and teachers each day. Pre-registration by July 22. Class Fee of $15 includes lunch. - October 1 & 2 – 9th Annual Jay Heritage Festival. Location: Jay County Historical Society. Learn about Jay County’s history. Free admission.
- October 22 & 23 – NCGLNAC Fall Friendship Fire Celebration. Location: Women’s Building, Jay County Fairgrounds. A gathering of members and friends for fellowship, site work, a craft, educational opportunities and a lecture. Pre-registration by October 14 of $25 includes all activities and Saturday evening meal and lecture. Contact Linda Andrews at linda.andrews@ncglnac.com or 765-427-9324.
- October 22 – NCGLNAC Children’s Cultural Arts Class. Location: Women’s Building, Jay County Fairgrounds. This is a wonderful opportunity for children ages 6 and up to learn more about the Great Lakes Native peoples. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pre-registration before October 14 of $12.
